I was invited by Sheffield University to the Advance Manufacturing Research centre for a period of three days to capture all of the facilities they have to offer. The AMRC specialise in carrying out world-leading research into advanced machining, manufacturing and materials, which is of practical use to industry. Their 100-plus industrial partners range from global giants like Boeing, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Airbus to small companies. Businesses can work with them on a one-off project, or join as a member for long-term collaboration. The AMRC now employs around 500 highly qualified researchers and engineers from around the globe, on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in South Yorkshire. I was very happy to be invited back, I enjoyed photographing parts of the AMRC which I previously hadn’t had the chance to. The 3 day time period gave me a chance to be creative with my photography, however, there was so much to see I think another trip is needed! Day 3 has by far been the most interesting for me. From seeing a castings facility capable of producing some of the biggest titanium aerospace components in the world, to meeting engineers whom are meeting with NASA with the new 3-d printing technology they have created… I could not believe the things that are being created at my door step! I look forward to working with the University and AMRC again in the future.

Thanks, Timm
